elderLAWRENCEBURG-Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reported Thursday that a Lawrenceburg nurse has been indicted and arrested on charges that she mistreated an impaired adult who had been in her care.
TBI officials reported that Tracy Lee Thomas, age 34, was indicted by a Lawrence County Grand Jury on December 19, 2014 on two counts of forgery and one count of willful abuse, neglect or exploitation.
The investigation was launched on April 3, 2014 at the request of the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and Adult Protective Services.
TBI reports, “During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that Thomas, a licensed practical nurse for Buffalo River Services, failed to take a woman in her care for a physician-ordered X-ray.
The investigation further revealed Thomas forged documents in an attempt to suggest the patient received the X-ray when she had not. The company initially discovered and reported the incident to authorities and subsequently terminated the nurse’s employment.”
Thomas was arrested on the indictments Thursday. She was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center then later released under a $30,000 bond.
