Lawrence Dennis Musgrove – Obituary

Lawrence-Musgrove-1429979049Lawrence Dennis Musgrove, 85 of Sheffield, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, April 24, 2015. His family will receive friends Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church. His remains will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield. Greg Beasley and Richard Fox will officiate the funeral.

Mr. Musgrove was a native of Baker County, Georgia. He was a retired minister in the Southern Baptist Association with 34 years of serving churches across North Alabama. Prior to serving in churches, he spent twenty years in the military serving in the U.S. Army and retiring from the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Musgrove spent five years serving as a chaplain for the Good Samaritan Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Alpha Musgrove; daughter, Vickie Darlene Musgrove; brother, Melvin Musgrove; and sister, Gladys Hodge.

Mr. Musgrove is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Elise Randolph Musgrove; son, Greg Dennis Musgrove and wife, Jill of Hiram, GA; daughters, Diane Goodwin and husband, Tommy of Hillsboro, AL and Cheryl McCorkle and husband, Frank of Sheffield; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Holderfield, Matt Holderfield, Chris Parker, Brandon Pitt, Richard Randolph and Frank McCorkle.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, ALS Association or Parkview Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family expresses special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and all of his caregivers, Shea, Susie, Tracy, Tammie, Dorothy, Kim and Amber.
