Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Is Conducting A Death Investigation

LAWRENCE COUNTY-On September 22, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Lawrence County Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of County Road 214 in the Langtown Community.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 40-year-old white male deceased in the front yard of the residence. Deputies also located an 85-year-old white male who had sustained significant injuries from an apparent assault. He was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased male was the son of the injured man. The physical altercation is believed to have started inside the father’s home that followed outside in the front yard.
According to statements obtained, the son began assaulting his father with a metal rod, possibly a piece of rebar. The father was able to retreat and defend himself with a revolver. The son was shot three times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His body is being transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for autopsy. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
Following the incident, the father was able to drive to a nearby residence, where the neighbor contacted 911.
This case remains under investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
