Lavaughn Roberson Gallien – Obituary

Lavaughn Roberson Gallien of Florence, AL was born October 27, 1924 in Wayne Co., TN, the daughter of the late Thomas Allen Roberson and Gladys Sledge. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Gallien Sr. on December 26, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1993.

Mrs. Gallien departed this life on November 3, 2012 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth in Florence, Alabama at the age of 87 Years, 7 Days.

Mrs. Gallien was a retired nurses assistant at ECM Hospital, was a member of the Railroad Methodist Church, Iron City, Tennessee, a member of Home Demonstration Club, and Collinwood Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Gallien was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lovingly cared for her husband during the years of his illness. One of her greatest joys was getting to see the grandchildren and later on, great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts and won many blue ribbons for them. She also loved gardening and growing beautiful African Violets. She was a remarkable person and was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by sons, Charles H. Gallien Jr. and wife, Hazel and Tommy Gallien and wife, Vicki all of Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Stephen Gallien and wife, Angela, Vanessa Witt and husband, Carl, Trisha Moore and husband, Steven, Holly Potts and husband, Anthony; great-grandchildren, Blake Gallien, Keifer Stults, Karli Witt, Presley Witt, Lindsey Moore, Conner Potts, Lauren Potts, Ella Potts; brother, Sterling Roberson of Iron City, TN; sisters, Faye Pruitt of Florence, AL, Rella Martin of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gallien was preceded in death by brothers, Elvis, T. A., Bobby Lee, and Terry Roberson.

Services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Anthony Potts officiating. Burial will follow in the Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2012 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home.
