  Laurie Neil EzellLaurie Neil Ezell, age 90, passed away in Elwood, IN, on Monday, June 22, 2020.

Mr. Ezell was born on Saturday, March 29, 1930, in Columbus, MS, to the late Henry Ezell and Lillie Vaughan Ezell.  He attended Caledonia, Rural Hill, and New Hope schools.  His first job was at the Columbus Marble Works in Columbus, MS.  He then joined the National Guard and went on to join the Army around the age of 20, which carried him to Indianapolis, IN.  He worked as a brick mason and in municipal construction until retireing.  Mr. Ezell liked to fish and hunt, and was a proud gardener and grandpa.  His grandchildren knew him as the Birdaround Man because of a little game he would play with children.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ezell is preceded in death by his sons, Edward Noel, Mark David, Emmet Neil Ezell; and his grandson, Alexander Neil Ezell.

Graveside services will be Monday, June 29, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mitchell Lawrence, Gordy Koenigsberger, Sammy Fondren, Max Turner, and Bob Dewitt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Martin Lawrence, and Jay Lawrence.

Laurie Ezell is survived by his granddaughter Allison Milaree Hazel (Justin Bivens); sisters, Imogene (Larry) Lawrence, Dessie Lawrence, and Wynell (Gordy) Koenigsberger; his niece Angela Fondren; and his nephews Mitchell Lawrence, Blake Koenigsberger, Steve Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Martin Lawrence, and Jay Lawrence; special friends Erika Stephens, Bob DeWitt, Bob Brunnemer; and a host of other good friends in Elwood and beyond, all of whom knew him to be a very generous man and a true friend.  We all love you, and you will truly be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
