Lauren McCreary Sparks, 56, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at her sister’s residence. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to Phillip McCreary and Judy Fancher McCreary. She loved Belmont High School where she was an excellent basketball player and an avid competitor. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mississippi State University. She returned to her alma mater where she taught for many years. Lauren had a humble spirit was a member of Belmont Methodist Church.
Services will be Friday, June 6, 2 p.m. at Belmont Methodist Church with Bro. Dallas Culver officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 11-2 p.m. at Belmont Methodist Church. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two sons, Alex Sparks (Bailey) and Kirk Sparks; three grandchildren, Saylor, Kyson and Scout; one sister, Lisa Stockton (Mike); nieces and nephews, Philden Stockton (Leigh Ann), Greta Weatherford (Clay), Brooks McCreary and Beth McCreary and special friend, Bill Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Phil McCreary.
Pallbearers will be Philden Stockton, Clay Weatherford, Michael Fancher, Chris Collier, Nick Sartain, Alan Russell, Bruce Deaton and John Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Clark and Tim Twitty.
