lauraMs. Laura Mae Cobb, 87, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield, Alabama.

Public viewing will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Muscle Shoals.

Visitation with the family will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Muscle Shoals.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Bethel Colbert M.B. Church, Leighton.

Interment will be in Bethel Colbert Church Cemetery, Leighton.

Ms. Cobb will lie in the sanctuary one hour prior to the funeral service.

Laura Mae Bates Cobb was born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Colbert County, Alabama to the late Greene Bates and Gizell Bates Mars. She departed this life on July 21, 2016, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Bethel Colbert M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member until death. She was a member of the Usher Board and also the Naomi Chapter No. 379 Order of Eastern Star. She will always be remembered for loving and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cobb; sisters, Mattie Wilkerson, Lucille Newsome, and Pearline Bates; and brothers, William Bates, Ozzie Bates, and Jeremiah Bates.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Jessie Cobb, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Thomas Cobb, of Zion, Illinois; five daughters, Salestine Dixon, of Cleveland, Ohio; Gizell (William) Cole, of Zion, Illinois, Alma Parker, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Dianthia (Steve) Jones, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Detamera (Rachelle) Anderson, of Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters, Rose (Willie) Meredith, of Detroit, Michigan, and Sylvia Burns, of Sheffield, Alabama; one brother, Percy (Lillian) Bates, of Lima, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Helen Bates, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Clemetine Bates, of Lima, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Leroy Cobb, of Hardwood, Maryland; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
