Funeral service for Mrs. Laura Ethel Buchanan, age 80 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Theodore Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Kelso Cemetery. Mrs. Buchanan passed away Saturday morning at her residence.
Mrs. Buchanan was born July 23, 1934 to the late Roy Lee and Ophelia Berry Jennings. She retired from Amana – Goodman after twenty seven years. A wonderful cook, she worked for Bar B Q Shack, Trotter, Angus Restaurant, and the Country Club. Lincoln County enjoyed her love of cooking great food. She was noted for her unusual laugh! She could be heard in a loud crowd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee and Ophelia Berry Jennings, brothers and sisters Freddie, Roy, John, Crystal, Bennie and Willie. She leaves a daughter, Dorris J. Wright, grandchildren Mitizi O. Wright, Jeffery D. Wright, Shoman Wright, Michael C. Wright, great grandchildren Chana C. Hampton, Emontae Wright, Zakyus Tate, Jamoryan D. Buchanan, Shanila M. Wright, Jalen L. Buchanan, Aniyah Sledge, Aleah Ashby, Shamichael Buchanan, Mikeal Buchanan, great-great grandson Demarcus L. Hampton-Bailey. She is also survived by brothers Robert L. (Louise) Jennings of Springfield, MA, Ronnie McGee of San Antonio, TX, sisters-in-law Mary Jennings of Huntsville, AL, Virginia Jennings of Tullahoma, TN, Annie J. Suggs, Barbara (Gilbert) Kibble, Brenda of California, Linda of Huntsville, AL, David (Joyce) Buchanan and a host of nieces and nephews.
