FLORENCE-On Wednesday morning police and sheriff’s deputies were called the home in a 9-1-1 call at around 7:15 AM to a home on County Road 57 in the Underwood/Petersville community.
A man, Kyle Seeley was taken into custody after a stand off with authorities ended with 3 children under the age of 10 being taken to the hospital and one adult, the brother of the assailant being inquired with a machete.

According to Sheriff Rick singleton two of the children and Seeley’s brother were airlifted to Birmingham to be treated for multiple lacerations. Authorities said the injuries were serious but did not appear to be life-threatening.
Seeley barricaded himself in an out building behind the residence where the attack happened. According to Singleton the Florence Police Department’s SWAT team had been trying to talk the man into surrendering but he refused to respond to officers. According to authorities Seeley was taken into custody when he tried to run away from the scene at around 10:30 Am after tear gas had been used.
According to Florence Police chief Ron Tyler Seeley had as many as 10 warrants stemming from and including charges of resisting arrest, public intoxication, attempting to elude as well as drug paraphernalia possession.
Charges are pending as to what Seeley will be charged with after this attack.
