Lauderdale County Drug Task Force Execute Search Warrants; Arrest Two Suspects

FLORENCE-On 07/08/2026, Agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force executed search warrants at 800 Sannoner Ave, apartment 33, and 7 Sannoner Square Apartments.
The Florence/Lauderdale Special Operations team made entry and secured the apartments. The search warrants were obtained due to the drug-dealing
activities of the occupants of both apartments. While entering one of the apartments, James Keith Long fled to the bathroom and attempted to flush a large amount of “spice” down the toilet.
There was a child in the apartment at the time of entry. A handgun, Spice, and Marijuana were within reach of the child. A search of the apartments revealed over 125 grams of Synthetic Marijuana “Spice”, Marijuana, a handgun, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distributions.

James Keith Long, 34, Florence
Trafficking in Illegal Drugs
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st
Chemical Endangerment of a Child
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Chester Steven Amey, 64, Florence
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Agencies assisting the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force during this investigation were the Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office.
Additional charges are anticipated, and suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
