FLORENCE – It appears that, at least for the time-being, that area residents are going to continue their work at convincing the County Commission to remove the statue of a Confederate Soldier from the County Courthouse. A schedule has been developed for Monday through Friday protests at the site. These protests are planned to be conducted by a number of different civil-rights and environmental organizations from The Shoals area.

Here’s the schedule:

Monday rally starts at 5pm, Tues.- Fri. rallies start at 6pm.
Monday – Project Say Something
Tuesday – Wake Up
Wednesday – Indivisible NW Alabama and Beyond the Women’s March
Thursday – Equality Shoals
Friday – Shoals Area Young Democrats

The rallies have been peaceful and most everybody has been wearing their personal protective masks. It reminds many of us who wereย  around in the ’60’s .and ’70’s of the anti-Vietnam and Civil Rights movements that swept through the Nation.

The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand to record Monday’s event:
