Latham Walker, 91, of Huntsville, and a native of New Market, passed away Monday. Mr. Walker was a descendant of two pioneer Madison County families; the son of Arthur and Bessie Latham Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jennie Marx Stone; brothers, Joe D. Walker, Robert, Walker and James Walker; and his first wife, Jean Warden Walker.
Latham was affectionately called “Doc” by his family and friends, “Uncle Doc” by his nieces and nephews, and “Granddaddy Doc” by his grandchildren. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving on a LST 839 in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Ray Walker, stepchildren, Gary Cooper, Sherry Calvert (Jeff) and Diann Ings (Bill); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel. A private family burial will follow
