Today we celebrate the life of Larry Vaughn Hudson.  Not only a soldier of the Army National Guard, but most importantly a soldier of God.  Coal mining was his main occupation although he spent the majority of his life serving others.  His passions included serving 40 years as a deacon of Westside Baptist Church, serving as a volunteer fireman of the McCollum Fire Department, as well as loving on and taking care of multiple children as if they were his own.

He was a devoted husband to his wife Shirley Rose for 64 years.  Talking to others was his absolute favorite thing.  He NEVER met a stranger!  His big personality and funny sense of humor brought joy to so many around him.  He made it his life’s mission to make others smile.  We love you Larry!  Thank you for loving us.

Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his Wife-Shirley Hudson; Brothers-Edward Hudson, Joe Hudson, and Jack Hudson; Adopted Son-Nicholas Hudson.

He is survived by his Daughters-Anna Robinson and Emma Sherer; Sister-Kay Hudson Rice; Grandchild-Rhett Robinson; A Host of Nieces and Nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the McCollum Fire Department or the Eldridge Freewill Baptist Children’s Home.
