Dr. Larry Taylor BoltonDr. Larry Taylor Bolton, 78 of Scottsboro, Passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital.
Larry married his loving wife Dorothy Bolton in 1972 and they were married for 52 years. Larry was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Scottsboro where he served as a Deacon in the church. Larry was also in Mike Worrell’s Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Lions Club also.
When Larry was not working, he enjoyed fishing!
Larry lived in the Word-Bolton Funeral Home in Scottsboro, which is currently Rudder Funeral Home until he was 13 years old, and then they moved in to his home.
Larry spent some time at Highland’s Health and Rehab where the staff was excellent, where he was Medical Director for 15 years. He was also Director of Cloverdale Health and Rehab for 20 years.
Dr. Bolton spent 50 years on Staff at Highland’s Medical Center in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Dr. Larry Bolton graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1963 and went to Samford University in Homewood, AL where he was in Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Larry then went to UAB School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Bolton did his internship at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He moved back to Scottsboro in 1972 and started working with Dr. Cromeans at his practice. In 1989, Dr. Larry T. Bolton began solo practice in Scottsboro, and retired in 2022.
Dr. Larry Bolton was survived by his Wife of 52 years; Dorothy “Dot” Jane Bolton, Son; Roland Taylor Bolton II (Kathleen O’Donnell), Daughter; Kelly Jane Bolton (Josh Harris), Sister-in-Law; Kathy Bolton, Brother; Kermit (Jodie) Bolton, and Several Nieces, Nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Hazel Pearson Bolton and Roland Taylor Bolton, Brother; Dr. John Orin Bolton.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro, Alabama from 5-8 PM CST.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 1st Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama beginning at 2:00 PM CST with Bro. Shandy Dill officiating. There will be Visitation hours on Thursday prior to the Funeral Service from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, Alabama.
Music will be by: Handy & Elaine Avery and DeVann Jackson.
Pallbearers will be: Anthony Landgraf, Bill Bolton, Jerry Gafnea, Clabourn Edge, Jack McDonald, and Josh Harris. Honorary Pallbearers are going to be Medical Staff and Retired Physicians.
