It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry “Randy” Proctor, who left this world on October 11, 2023, at the age of 80. He departed peacefully at Huntsville Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was born on April 30, 1943, in the comfort of his home in Crossville, Alabama, to his late parents, E.P. and Winona Proctor. His life was a testament to the values and traditions of the small, close-knit community where he was raised.
Randy had a passion for various pursuits in life. He was a dedicated and avid Alabama football fan, proudly supporting his team through thick and thin. His love for the sport brought joy to countless games and gatherings with friends and family.
In addition to his love for football, Randy had a deep appreciation for history and was a true history buff. He had a special fondness for genealogy, tirelessly tracing his family’s roots and preserving the stories of generations past. Randy enjoyed spending time in his yard, tending to his garden. He also found solace in his workshop, where he tirelessly tinkered and crafted countless creations over the years.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Janice Proctor, their bond was a testament to enduring love. He is also survived by his son, John Randall Proctor, and John’s wife, Fannie. Randy’s presence was a source of pride and strength for his family.
He leaves behind a legacy within his family, including his brother, Tony Proctor, and Tony’s wife, Nona; his sister, Emily Proctor Hill, and Emily’s husband, Richard. He cherished his nieces and countless extended family, forming lasting bonds that brought warmth and laughter to their gatherings.
A visitation to celebrate Randy’s life will be held at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Following the visitation, a Graveside Service will take place at Liberty Cemetery in the Painter Community at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Bill Stone officiating. It will be a time to honor his memory and share stories of the remarkable life he led.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, 801 Clinton Ave. East, Huntsville, AL 35801, or online at huntsvillehospitalfoundation.org, in Randy’s memory.
Randy Proctor will be greatly missed, and always in our loving memory as the best father, husband, brother and friend, may he Rest in Peace.
