Larry Phillip Waldrep, age 75, of Trinity, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Decatur, AL on February 2, 1950, to Lile and Annie Kidd Waldrep.  A proud lifetime resident of Lawrence County, he was a 1969 graduate of Lawrence County High School.  He possessed a strong work ethic that he displayed throughout his career, including Champion Paper Mill, Wolverine Tube, and Wah Chang ATI.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling the country with his beloved wife by his side.

A man of faith and a strong moral compass, he was a member of Beltline Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A devoted family man, “Poppy” cherished spending time with his family.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice Monroe Waldrep; children, David Clemons (Elana), Ever Wright (Will), and Samantha Clemons; grandchildren, Jordan Buchanon, Claire Wright, and Price Wright.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Little officiating.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.  Interment will be in Dancy Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Clemons, Will Wright, Price Wright, David Scarbrough, Tim Thomas, and Danny Standridge.

A gentle spirit who will be remembered for his strength, love of family, and enjoyment of the simple things in life.  His legacy will forever live on in the countless lives he touched
