Larry Neil Strong passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 16th. Born July 3rd, 1951, in Childersburg, AL, he was raised in Bessemer. He graduated from McAdory High School in 1969 and earned his Accounting degree at The University of Montevallo.
Larry was an Eagle Scout and Counselor at several BSA camps. He served for 21 years in the Alabama National Guard, many of which with his beloved 1169th. He retired a Captain with the 1343rd in 1992. He was also a proud owner of SportClips in North Alabama.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn Harbour and husband, Scott; grandsons, Dylan Harbour and Ian Harbour, of Madison; and mother-in-law, Mary Louise Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 38 years, Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Strong.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Still Serving Veterans.
