Larry Jay Gardner died on January 29,2022, peacefully at home at the age of 76.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Edgar and mother Dorothy. Larry is survived by his daughter, Teresa Hughes (husband John), three brothers Jack, Ronald (wife Marlene), Gary (wife Maricor), one grandson Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was raised in Texas where he joined the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Eagle Scout Badge with Three Palms for additional merit badges. He was a smoke jumper for a couple of summers before graduating. He also served honorably in the U.S. Navy. After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Texas in Arlington, he moved to Alabama where he went on to obtain his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from University of Alabama in Huntsville. He worked as an engineer at various companies, retiring from Boeing.
