Larry Hill Abernathy age 76 of Athens passed away Friday at his residence. Mr. Abernathy was born February 10, 1950 in Limestone County, was a 1968 graduate of Elkmont High School and retired from Southeastern Freight. He attended Sandlin Road church of Christ and Friendship Church. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama and Athens Home Health for their care. Survivors include his Wife, Margaret Rachel Abernathy. Daughters, Amy Elizabeth (Aaron) Drummond and Katie Hill Abernathy. Grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Camp (James) Johnson. Lily Grace Drummond. Brother, James Abernathy. Sister, Jane Barksdale. Several nieces and nephews and also by his girls, Nola and Gizzy. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Robert and Lois Abernathy. Sister, Martha Ann Thompson.
A memorial service will be 2 pm Sunday, March 15th 2026 in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Michael Miller and Mike Owens officiating. Visitation time will begin at 1:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Association.
