Larry Hankins – Obituary

Mr. Larry Hankins, born August 9, 1934, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Shields and Icie Hankins, left his loving family and this life to be with his Heavenly Father, Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the age of 84.  Larry was being cared for at home.

Larry was married 61 years to the late Anne Bostick Hankins, the greatest delight of his life.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Shoop and Jo Ellen Sisson, and one brother, James Earl Hankins.

Larry is survived by, one son, Jeff (Pam) Hankins of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Jenni Hankins, of Vernon, AL; one grandson, Keith (Jennifer) Hankins, of Ocean Springs, MS; two sisters, Christine Miles and Janet Mitchell; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Eddie Finch and Fred Webb officiating.  Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday 2:00-3:00 prior to the service.

A faithful member of the Lord’s church, Larry attended Vernon church of Christ.  He served in the U.S. Army and worked for Sanford Company for a number of years, then helped with the family business, Bostick’s Furniture. Larry’s greeting friends each day with a smile and his memorable “deep bear” chuckle and easy personality will be missed.
