Larry Glen Scott, 67, of Athens passed away on January 21, 2017 at Athens-limestone Hospital.

A native of Athens, Larry enjoyed most, his involvement in the Youth Baseball and Softball organizations during the 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s as both coach and board member. He also coached youth basketball and soccer during the 1980’s, having helped provide and build some of the first soccer goals used by the brand new soccer league.

As a twenty-five year employee of Dunlop Tire and Rubber, Larry was proud to have held a variety of positions that allowed him the opportunity to give other young people their first job.

Always quick with a smile and a joke; a natural storyteller, Larry was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Brice Scott and Hester Belcher Scott, and a sister, Mary Jo Scott, all of Athens.

Larry is survived by his wife Sandra Bartlett Scott of Athens; his children, Tammy (Stephen) House of California, Michael (Jessica) Scott of Athens, and Lori (Scott) Adams of Florence; five grandchildren, Scott House, Ramsey Scott, Emily House, Bryce Scott, and Jacob Adams. He is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca (Cliff) Anderson of Texas and Faye Tribble of Athens; eight nieces and nephews, and three great-nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
