Larry Alexander died June 8, 2017. He was born Sept. 8, 1938 in Lawrence County to Hansel and Gussie Alexander. He grew up in Courtland and graduated from Hazelwood High School. He was employed at Monsanto for 37 years, retiring in 1993. Larry enjoyed his retirement and watching his granddaughters grow up. He enjoyed his church, Unity Baptist and walking in the mornings at the Decatur Mall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Glenda and three sisters, Jean Graham, Betty Hughes and Nadine Alexander.
Survivors include his sons, Gerry Alexander (Connie) and Dale Alexander; granddaughters, Aleah Alexander and Shannon Alexander whom he both loved dearly; sister, Kathleen McBride; and brother, Stanley Alexander.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with Brother Joel Snyder of Unity Baptist Church officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service at Roselawn Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Tabitha Brown for all their help, and for everyone for their prayers.
