Larmia Ambrose, Jr.

Rev. Larmia Ambrose, Jr., was born on March 17, 1936 to the late Larmia Ambrose, Sr. and Annie Bell Finnie Ambrose.  He accepted Christ at the age of 13 and united with New Prospect M.B. Church in Nettleton, MS.  He later became a faithful member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church, Verona.  He served and worked until his health did not allow him.  Larmia served as Sunday School Superintendent, one of the founding members of the Male Chorus, Brotherhood Bible teacher.  He also served as Springhill District Sunday School Director for several years.  He was a Mason with the St. Joseph Lodge, #13, Verona.  He was licensed to preach the gospel at the age of 80 on May 1, 2016, by Rev. Donnell Nichols at Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Larmia was united in holy matrimony to Inez Ambrose for 60 years.  He passed into the great beyond to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 27, 2019.  He looked forward to this day.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Inez of Verona; 2 sons, Rev. Melvin (Anita) Ambrose of Verona, Deacon Elvin (Jackie) Ambrose of Myrtle; daughter Velma (Johnny) Traylor of Oakridge, TN; mother-in-law, Ada Medcalf; 2 sisters, Annie Mae Ambrose and Lillie Morris, both of Verona; godsons, Kenny Sims and Larry Fowlkes; special nephews, Cedric White, Terry White, Titus White, Billy Griffin; special nieces, Debbie Kay wood and Rose Stone; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers-in-law and 6 sisters-in-law.  Larmia is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Fannie White, Ollie Griffin, and Estella Edwards; 2 brothers Primis Ambrose and Webster Ambrose.

A celebration of life service will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mt. Zion M.B. Church, 444 City Point Road 659, Verona, MS, with Rev. Donnell Nichols, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Melvin Ambrose, Sr., Eulogist.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion M.B. Church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Active Pallbearers will be Robbie Medcalf, Cedric White, Derrick Ambrose, Titus White, John Griffin, and Michael Terrell.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mt. Zion Deacons and Deacon Union Class.
