Laneita Wilbanks Davis, of Somerville AL, passed away peacefully, in her home, on the afternoon of Friday September 19, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a short illness. Laneita was born on January 31, 1951, in Hartselle, AL to Carlos John Wilbanks and Ethel Olene Self. After graduating from Morgan County High School in 1969, she went on to marry her husband, Cecil Eugene Davis in 1970 and had three children, Brain, Amanda, and Nancy. She also worked full-time at General Electric in Decatur, where she retired in 2012. After her retirement, Cecil and Laneita spent their time babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren and always having a project to work on together. Laneita was a caregiver at heart and devoted her life to serving God and her family. She was also an avid gardener and birdwatcher. When indoors, Laneita could be found reading a good book or working on a puzzle. Laneita was also a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in Somerville, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Eugene Davis, and two brothers, Carlos Wilbanks Jr and Melvin Wilbanks. She is survived by her son, Cecil Brian Davis, two daughters, Amanda Lawson (Greg) and Nancy Staggs (Thomas) all of Somerville, AL. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Ronald Wilbanks (Barbara) of Danville, AL, Gerald “Flip” Wilbanks (Nancy) of Goodspring, TN and Rebekah Morgan (Timmie) of Danville, AL, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian Davis, Greg Lawson, Andrew Lawson, Ethan Lawson, Lucas Staggs and Gregory Lawson II with honorary pallbearer being Levi Staggs.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Center Springs Methodist with Bro. Nathan Childers officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:30 with services starting at 4:30. The burial will follow at Center Springs Cemetery.
