Landon Christopher Letsinger – Obituary

LandonLandon Christopher Letsinger, 17, Muscle Shoals, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. On this day, Father’s Day, Landon met his Heavenly Father face to face.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Highland Park Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, with Bros. Brett Pitman and Phil Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Visitation with Landon’s friends and family will be prior to the service from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the church.

For 17 years, Landon lived every moment to the fullest. He was loved by many, and likewise loved many. He befriended all and was loyal to his friends. He hugged without reserve and loved deeply.

He was known for his quick wit, clever practical jokes, unique sense of humor, and his ability to laugh at himself. Anyone who spent time with Landon was sure to come away with more than a few funny stories to share.

Landon’s competitive nature and passion for sports were obvious throughout his many years of involvement in both the Muscle Shoals High School soccer team and Shoals Soccer Club. He was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and enjoyed spending weekends with his dad, cousin Jimmy, and Papaw following the Tide around the country.

Landon gave the gift of life through organ donation and would be so happy to know that two others will live because of him.

The family wishes to share heartfelt thanks with the multitude of people who have prayed and supported them throughout this difficult time.

Landon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elton Harris; maternal stepgrandfather, Carlos McKinney; and paternal aunt, Etta Mary Davenport.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Juli Letsinger, Muscle Shoals; sister, Alexandria Letsinger, Muscle Shoals; grandparents, Bennie and Shirley Letsinger, Leighton; Earline McKinney, Muscle Shoals; aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Pallbearers will be Allen Michael, Joe Knight, Weston Allen, Aaron Roby, Josh Austin, Nick Shook, Husam Ali, and Dylan Atchley.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Muscle Shoals High School soccer team and Landon’s buddy, Trey Sockwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Landon Letsinger Memorial Scholarship Fund at any First Metro Bank location.
