Lala Elizabeth Whitehead Bedingfield, 88, of Rogersville, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at ECM Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 5, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow immediately at the church with Pat Driskel, Cecil Ryland, and Susan Parker officiating. Burial will be in Civitan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Bedingfield, Mitchell Bedingfield, Joshua Bedingfield, Jesse Thompson, Craig Woodham, Chris Sims, Patrick Lindsay, and David Prosser.
Mrs. Bedingfield was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School and an avid Auburn fan. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. She started the first kindergarten class in Rogersville in her home and taught many children for over 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Clara Whitehead, brothers, J.T. Whitehead Jr and Gerald Whitehead, and sisters, Dassah Sims, Mildred Finley, Hildred Jones, and Sybil Blankenship.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Hubert Bedingfield; children, Mickey (Betsy) Bedingfield, Jerry Bedingfield, and Libby (George) Thompson; grandchildren, April (Craig) Woodham, David Alberson, Patrick Lindsay, Brandon (Sarah) Bedingfield, Mitchell Bedingfield, Joshua Bedingfield, Jamie Bedingfield, Danielle Thompson, and Jesse (Jessica) Thompson.; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Emogene Hyatt and Barbara (Milton) Lankford; brother, Bruce (Wynell) Whitehead; and sister-in-law, Faye Whitehead.
