Laconia Lee Kirby, 97, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hendrix Health and Rehab in Double Springs. The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Larry Joe Corum officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Born on December 15, 1928 to the late Leonard and Ruthie Harris Corum, Laconia enjoyed sewing and especially spending time with her family. Remembered as a hard worker and the best mom in the world, she will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Hutto, and Frankie “Buddy” (Donna Kay) Hutto; granddaughters, Latasha Hutto, Lekisha Hutto, and Anna Marie Hutto; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Laconia was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Kirby; parents; and three sisters, and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Frankie “Buddy” Hutto, Brannon Davis, Ryan Hill, and Ray Anderson.
The family extends special thanks to all of Laconia’s nurses and the staff at Hendrix Health and Rehab, everyone who took the time to pay their respects to Mrs. Laconia, and Lawrence Funeral Home for their assistance.
