L.D. Ables, 85, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was born in Dennis, MS to Elmer Ables and Flonnie Maxwell Ables. L.D. worked at Ford Motor Company in Wayne County, MI as a lift truck driver for thirty-three years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was saved at Liberty Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Joel Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS assisted the family.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Mackenzie Toutant and Jonathan Smith; a sister, Dean Pierce (Benford) and two step-sons, Gary Mills and Larry Mills.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Honeycutt Ables; a daughter, Tonya Smith; a grandson, Gavin Smith; his parents and a sister, Betty Allred (Joe).
