FLORENCE-Keep The Shoals Beautiful will be giving away plants at the second annual Keep America Beautiful National Planting Day. The give away will be Friday, October 25, 2013, from 12:00 noon and will continue while supplies last. Individuals can choose either a Japanese Maple or a Beautyberry shrub. Partnering with Keep The Shoals Beautiful will be The Shoals Master Gardeners. They will be available to answer questions and provide planting tips.
Melanie Dickens, Keep The Shoals Beautiful Chair, stated, “When a tree is planted within 50 feet of a residence, the property value increases. This is a great opportunity to enhance properties and add beauty to our lovely Shoals area.”
The give away will take place at two locations. One is at the Sheffield Riverfront Park (across from Cypress Moon Studio at 1000 Alabama Avenue in Sheffield). The other location is at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce at 20 Hightower Place in Florence. There is no charge and it is open to the public.
Keep the Shoals Beautiful is partnering with Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Sheffield Parks and Recreation Department, Shoals Solid Waste Authority, City of Florence Recycling Center, Shoals Master Gardeners, and ADPH-Tobacco Branch
