FLORENCE – Thursday’s edition of Big River Broadcasting’s “Muscle Shoals to Music Row” was different. It was almost like one of those adventurous, daring performances over at Sheffield’s community center in the 1950’s. Yeah… You know what we’re talking about. One of those Sam Phillips unorganized, last moment things when he would find some interesting talent up in Memphis and say something like, “Where going over to the Shoals to see how they like you, kid… If you can play in the Shoals… Well, you can play anywhere.” Of course, everyone knows the legend. One of those talents was a fellow named Jerry Lee. And if you closed your eyes the other night at the Marriott Conference Center, and suspended your disbelief just a bit, you could get pretty much the fame feeling.

Chris Lucas of Nashville gave the crowd a taste of his music to start the evening. He was joined on stage by Chad Burdine; and together they showed the audience their fresh brand of new talent.

Then it was the headliner’s turn. Some people still say that Jason D. Williams has some sort of connection to Jerry Lee. It’s not true. But, boy, can he play the piano! It was a terrific performance and the audience was brought to its feet numerous times. All in all… An exciting and fun evening, thanks to the folks at Big River Broadcasting.
