Kimberly Spaulding Baer

Kimberly Spaulding Baer, age 69, of Decatur, passed away on October 2, 2024. Kim was born in Brunswick, Ga to Raymond and Elizabeth Spaulding. She moved to Alabama, where she fell in love with the art of dance and was an original member of the Ann Brown Company Dancers and appeared on Ted Mack The Original Amateur Hour. After graduating from Butler High School where she met the love of her life Howard Baer, she became a dance teacher at Ann’s Studio of Dance. After moving to Decatur in 1976, she opened Kim’s School of Dance. She went on to teach, love and mentor thousands of students throughout her 44 year career where she affectionately became known as “Miss Kim”.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years, Howard Baer.

She is survived by her daughters Alicia Mullican and Erin Colley, sons-in-law Stacy Mullican and Brandon Colley, grandchildren Mollie Mullican, Amelia Mullican, Carl Thomas Colley, John Tyler Colley, Jaynie Colley, and Teddy Colley, sister Rhae Brock, brother-in-law Chuck Brock, nieces and nephews, and the students whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 5th, from 11:00 until 12:30 at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur, AL in the fellowship hall. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following visitation.
