DOUBLE SPRINGS-The Winston County Sheriff’s Department responded to a pedestrian struck and killed on March 27 by a vehicle on County Road 18 just north of Double Springs.
Terry Wayne “Bubba” Lewis, 40, of Double Springs was struck by a vehicle driven by Christian Daniel Modas, 30, of Killen, who has been charged with murder. According to Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy Modas is being held in the Winston County Jail on a $1 million bond.
The Sheriff said more details will be available at a later date as the incident remains under investigation.
Lewis had been auto technology instructor at the Winston Career Academy in Double Springs the past 18 years, according to Winston County Schools Superintendent Greg Pendley. Superintendent Pendley said Lewis was the father of five children and had won several national competitions with his students.
Pendley also said extra guidance counselors will be at the school for students and staff.
