Killen Founder’s Day 2025

KILLEN-The annual Killen Founder’s Day celebration will take place Friday, August 1 st and
Saturday, August 2 nd . Make plans to come out and enjoy these action packed two days.
The theme for this year’s Founder’s Day is, “Small Town, Big Dreams.” The Grand
Marshall for the parade will be Greg Cummings. He will lead our parade on Friday night,
August 1 st starting at 6:00 p.m. The parade will run along J.C. Mauldin Highway from
Brooks Elementary to Foodland Marketplace.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Killen Park. There will be 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd
place trophies given for the best parade entries. Friday night entertainment will start
soon after with a local favorite “Rewind.”

Saturday will be full of activities starting with the Killen Founder’s Day 5k run starting at
8:00 a.m. and a 1-mile fun run at 9:00 a.m. both will begin at Killen First Baptist Church
and continue through downtown Killen. There will also be a car show sponsored by the
Killen Masonic Lodge 788, which will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Killen Park, in the upper
parking lot by the tennis courts. They will also have their monthly Pancake Breakfast in
that same area.

Other fun activities include singles and doubles horseshoe tournaments on Saturday,
and a car bash sponsored by Center Star Fire Department on both Friday and Saturday.
There will be wonderful food with the returning favorites, “Pops BBQ”, “Wacky Martins”,
and “The Wright Weiner”. Also, we will have great Arts & Crafts vendors, with
everything from clothing to Tupperware. The Friends of the Killen Public Library will be
holding a book fair at their pavilion in the park. They will also have a coloring contest for
elementary-aged children. Lastly, they will be raffling off a Family Fun Basket worth
$755. Tickets are $1 for 1 ticket and $5 for 7 tickets. The drawing will be at the end of
the day on Saturday (you do not have to be present to win).

The musical entertainment on Saturday will begin at 2:00 p.m. and last until 9:30 p.m.
There will be several acts during the day. The entertainment will conclude with a
performance by “The Shoal Nuff Band.” You do not want to miss this great
entertainment.

The night will end with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. provided by TNT Fireworks.
