Kevin Eugene Bates, age 54, passed from his earthly life June 23, 2016. Visitation will be today from 1-2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Kevin was born in Smithville, Tennessee. He graduated from Muscle Shoals High School. He was a brick mason for more than 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ann Bates; brother, Stephen; and sister, Teresa.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Cameron Sherrill Bates; son, Dustin Bates; step-daughter, Melanie Sherrill Mitchell; grandchildren, Casey Mitchell, Cortney Sherrill, and Kayla Sherrill; great-grandchildren, Raegan Chaney, Westin and Corbin Greenhill, and Brayden Sherrill; brother, Tommy Bates (Ellen); sister, Lori Bates Bobo (B. J.); brother-in-law, Gerald Henderson; a very special mother-in-law, Dorothy Witt Tarleton; other family members; and a host of friends.
Kevin loved Alabama football and his six Doberman Pinchers.
