Kenneth Wayne Hollman , age 85 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Wednesday October 14, 2026 at NHC Healthcare Franklin. He was a native of Lawrence Co,TN. a Veteran of the United States Army, retired Educator.
Though from humble beginnings, Dr. Hollman rose to the highest levels of achievement in academia and business certifications. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. at the University of Alabama.
After teaching at the University of Mississippi from 1970-1981, he accepted a faculty position at MTSU, where he remained until his retirement in 2014. At MTSU, he held the Tommy T. Martin Chair of Insurance from 1982-2015. He was widely credited with building the MTSU Insurance Program from a simple concept into a nationally recognized, iconic academic track.
Dr. Hollman was well known for working hard and long hours, making lifelong friendships with colleagues and associates at MTSU. Outside work, he maintained a love of learning, in particular in the area of genealogy.
Dr. Hollman was extremely generous to his family and friends with his time and resources, and he will be sorely missed. His love and care for his mother and father, especially in their final years, was widely appreciated and admired.
Funeral Services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Saturday October 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Family will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday October 17, 2026 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
