Kenneth S. Williamson – Obituary

Kenneth S. Williamson, 81 a resident of the Hampton Cove community died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his residence.

 

Mr. Williamson was born February 7, 1934 in Mobile, Alabama the son of Robert S. and Mary Irene Williamson. He and his wife Linda Taylor Williamson were married 45 years.

 

Kenneth served with honor and courage in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He received his B/S degree in 1959 from the University of Alabama. He retired from NASA after 35 years as a software engineer and has been a resident of Huntsville since 1960, he and his wife, Linda have called Hampton Cove their home since 1994.

 

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed playing chess and was a 3 time State Chess Champion in Alabama, he was also a huge Alabama Fan and statistician for the Huntsville Republican Club.

 

He is survived by his wife: Linda Williamson; a daughter and son-in-law: Dawn and Steve Lucy; grandson: Samuel Lucy, granddaughter: Sarah Grace Lucy and a sister and brother-in-law: Sharon and Michael McIntosh and host of many cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Mountain View Baptist Church, Reverend Steve Lucy, officiating. Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

 

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. also on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Mountain View Baptist Church with the graveside service following the 1 p.m. funeral service.
