Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Lumpkin Sr., 69, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Round Island Baptist Church with Mike Green and Phillip Willingham officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Athens, Limestone Chapel directing. Mr. Lumpkin’s remains will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in Athens, Alabama.
Mr. Lumpkin passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, at his residence.
He was retired from TVA at Browns Ferry in Athens, Alabama.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Shriners Children’s Hospitals.
Mr. Lumpkin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Lumpkins, and his wife, Sandra Lumpkin, one sister, Edna Coggins, two brothers, J.E. Lumpkins and Mark Lumpkins.
Mr. Lumpkin is survived by one son, Ken Lumpkin Jr. and wife, Amy, Athens, Alabama; one daughter, Traci Lumpkin McGill and husband, Bret, Athens, Alabama; six grandchildren, Zach McGill and wife, Haley, Decatur, Alabama, Carley McGill, Athens, Alabama, Emrey McGill, Athens, Alabama, Raley McGill, Athens, Alabama, Kendall Lumpkin, Athens, Alabama, Taylor Lumpkin, Athens, Alabama; three sisters, Myrna Morris, Athens, Alabama, Elizabeth Smith, Athens, Alabama, Bennie Sue Willingham and husband, Wallace, Decatur, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell, Tim Clark, Danny Carter, Willie White and Maurice (Poodle) Gautreau.
