Kenneth R. Watson – Obituary

Kenneth R. Watson, age 80, resident of Lynnville, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville with his family at his side.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM with a rosary service beginning at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. Burial will be held in Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder, Georgia. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 5, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, Ken was the son of the late Oakley Noah Watson and the late Helen Marjorie Mains. He graduated from Fenger High School and then Aeronautical University in Chicago. Ken loved and excelled at his job as an Aeronautical Engineer, and worked for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, Lockheed in Georgia, and three other engineering companies in Wichita, Kansas. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his time designing and improving his home on Screamer Road and working to improve finances through the stock market and other investments. Ken was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church for twenty years. He was a devoted and loving husband who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Christmas was his favorite time of year.

Along with Sue, his wife of fifty-nine years, Ken is survived by his son: Jeffrey Richard (Karen) Watson of Wilmington, NC; daughters: Constance Marie Hardigree (Dennis Hardigree) of Winder, GA and Donna Marie Watson Phillips of Milton, GA; sister: Debbie (Roger) Ulman of Dyer, IN; step brother: Donald (Jan) Patz; grandchildren: Kathleen Murray Watson, Christopher Daniel Watson, Keefe James Watson, Ashley Nicole Hardigree, Anna Marie Hardigree, Emily Marie Phillips, and Noah Lee Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Rochelle “Skip” Watson.
