Kenneth Ray Sutton, 73, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020, at his residence. Kenneth was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked in the trucking industry for 50 years driving for several different companies. He retired from Western International Gas & Cylinder in Birmingham after 6 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jasper where he actively served with the Carpenters for Christ and was a member of the Charles Matthews Sunday school class. He loved volunteering at the Salvation Army, duck hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Kenneth was born February 19, 1947, in Tampa, FL, to the late Guy Hamilton Sutton and the late Margaret Lorene Crowe Sutton. He was raised in Decatur, AL. He was married on August 20, 1966, to Esther Barton Sutton, who survives, of Jasper, AL. Along with his wife, he is also survived by his son, Scott Sutton of Jasper; sister, Betty Herchenhahn of Decatur; brothers, James H. Sutton (Sheila) of Fultondale, and Fred. D. Sutton of Decatur; sisters in-law, Cathi Barton of Jasper, and Norma Thompson of Counce, TN; brothers in-law, David (Margaret) Barton of Jasper, and Bill Barton (Helon) of Birmingham; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles W. Sutton and Guy Sutton, Jr. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
