Kenneth Leonard Underwood, 83, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at NMMC-Gilmore Hospital in Amory, MS. Ken was the ninth child of John and Ercell Blunt Underwood. He was born and raised in Tishomingo County, MS and was a 1955 graduate of Tishomingo High School. He graduated from Mississippi State University as he had become a life-long “Dawg Fan”. As he grew older, watching sports, whether it was Atlanta Braves, NASCAR or any of the Dawgs, became extremely important to him. For the past thirteen years, he was a client of the Care Center of Aberdeen and was elected president of the Resident Council, a job he took very seriously. Every Friday was declared “Maroon Friday” in his honor.

There will be no funeral service and there will be a private burial. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS assisted the family.

He leaves behind two daughters – Lisa and Shannon; four grandchildren – Melissa, Brent, Carrie and Emmalee and five great-grandchildren. Only two of his siblings and two sisters-in-law remain – Margaret of Tishomingo, MS, Harold Lee (Martha) of Kingston, TN and Kathy (Karl’s widow) of Tupelo, MS. One dear friend of many years that will miss him also is Bob Cherry of Orlando, FL. Ken left many nieces and nephews, grand/great-nieces & nephews.

He is now having reunions with his children, Joey and Susan, his parents, siblings and their spouses, Ursula, J.O. and Mary Belle, Bluford and Anne, Arch and Eunice, Francis and Mildred, Ruth and Karl, special niece, Amy, nephews, Hood and Rick and grand-nephew, Jimmy.
