Kenneth Leon Avery, age 93, of Tuscumbia passed away Tuesday March 28, 2017.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 1, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Rev. Randy Burbank will officiate.
Kenneth was a graduate of Deshler High School, Class of 1942. He retired from Sheffield Postal Service and served in the Army Air Force where he was a firefighter for 8th Air Force during World War II. He belonged to the V.F.W. Post 4919, Sheffield and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia.
He lived the last three years with his daughter and son-in-law on the banks of the Tennessee River fulfilling a lifelong passion of fishing, fishing, and more fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents S.C. and Mabel Avery and his wife Margaret Williams Avery.
Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law Vicky (Avery) and Billy Burton; son Roy Harris Olive of St. Augustine, FL; sister Gwendolyn Watts, Sheffield, AL; granddaughter Teri Olive Wright, Sandersonville, GA; and extended family of Margaret Williams Avery: Linda and Gary Nash.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Moore, Earl Triplett, Slim Alsobrooks, Bill Taylor, Cecil Sparks, and Gary Nash.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans V.F.W. Post 4919, Sheffield, AL or a charity of your choice.
