Kenneth Larry Hicks, 66, of Russellville, went to sleep in Jesus Sept. 11, 2013.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The body will lie in state from noon-1 p.m. Saturday , September 14, at Sunnyside Church of God. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., with singer Gwen Walker. Burial will follow at Poplar Creek Cemetery. Reverend Mike Walker and Reverend Richard McDonald are officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 29 wonderful years, Sandra Hicks;
sons, Scott Burkhalter (Pamela), of Russellville, Bruce Burkhalter (Shannon), of Hackleburg, Ala., and Joey Burkhalter (Amy), of Russellville;
daughter, Kim Buchanan, of Russellville, Ala.;
mother-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, of Russellville;
brother, O’Neal Hicks (Shirlynn), of Town Creek;
Sister, Hazel Scott (Athel), of Tuscumbia;
grandchildren, who called him Papa, Michelle, Hannah, Ashley, Matthew, Christian, Taylor, Emily, Tommy, Jayce, Gracie, Anna and Brandt;
a host of loving nieces; nephews; church family; and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bernard Akins, Ellis Ford, Bob Corsby, Philip Potter, Curtis Hicks, David Hicks, O’neal Uptain and Ronnie Potter. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Mitchell, Anthony Hicks, Keith Hicks and Mark Corsby
Mr. Hicks was a member of Sunnyside Church of God for 15 years and a retired butcher with Winn Dixie and C&S Grocery.
