Kenneth Dwayne Pierce, known best by family and friends as “K.P.,” departed this earthly life on Friday evening, August 28, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Funeral services honoring K.P.’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home, with family friend Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, with no graveside service.
Born July 11, 1964, in South Mississippi, K.P. was the son of the late Roland and Mary Herzog Pierce. He received his education at Kemper Academy and, on August 15, 1987, married his beloved wife, Deanna Greer Pierce, who survives. Together, they shared thirty-nine years of marriage and built a life centered around family, love, and simply enjoying the time they were given together.
A hardworking man who was talented with his hands, K.P. worked for many years as a skilled brick mason. He also spent time as a truck driver throughout North Mississippi and Memphis, continuing to work as long as his health allowed.
A Christian, K.P. found his greatest enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life. When his health was good, he loved riding motorcycles, mowing the yard, and building just about anything he could put his hands to. Even as his health began to decline, he continued finding happiness in the quieter things. He enjoyed cooking—and according to those who knew best, made some of the finest biscuits you could ever eat—reading a good book, and, most importantly, spending time with the family he loved so deeply.
A wonderful husband, devoted dad, and true friend, K.P. never had any desire to be the center of attention. He was much more content with a small circle, good conversation, and the company of those who mattered most to him. He appreciated the quiet moments, the ordinary days, and the simple things that so often become the most treasured memories.
While his presence will forever be missed, K.P. leaves behind a legacy found not in grand gestures, but in a life well loved—the things he built with his hands, the meals prepared for those around his table, the miles traveled, the laughter shared, and the countless quiet moments spent with the people he loved. And perhaps his approach to life can best be remembered through words he often shared with those around him: “Never worry too much.”
In addition to his wife, Deanna, memories of K.P. will continue to be cherished by his two sons, Kyle and Joe Pierce; three nieces, Candice, Nichole, and Ashley Pierce; his in-laws, Yvonne and Bobby Greer; a special aunt who helped raise him, Kathleen Cooper; and a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, K.P. was preceded in death by his son, Nathaniel Pierce, and one brother, Roger Pierce.
Those serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Joe and Kyle Pierce, along with Nathan Pierce and Tyler Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Greer and Gene Greer.
