Kenneth D. Mullinax, 89, retired employee of Fleming Company and resident of Columbia, died Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Clay Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Neapolis Cemetery. Born April 11, 1933 in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Wylie Wilson Mullinax and the late Georgia Cook Mullinax. A devoted husband for 54 years, he married Mattie Lenora “Sudie” Stone Mullinax on April 12, 1952 and she preceded him in death January 14, 2006. Mr. Mullinax was a man of God, family, and working. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being on his tractor. He was a long-time member of Lanton Church of Christ and more recently Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
Survivors include his daughter, Betty “Sis” (Dennis) Turner of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Adam (Stephanie) Mullinax of Columbia; Crea (Bill) Bailey of Keystone Heights, Florida; great grandchildren, Paxton Mullinax, Kersey McManis, Kylee McManis; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jean Brown; Donna and Craig Vaughan; and dog, Skeeter.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Wayne Mullinax; and brother, Doncue Mullinax.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Cromer Jackson and Jim Blackburn.
