Kenneth Blacklidge – Obituary

Kenneth Blacklidge, 91, Red Bay, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Cypress Cove in Muscle Shoals.
He was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Alabama. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 22 years. He was a member of Pleasant Site Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was stationed in China, Burma and India from 1942-1945. He was a member of Company C, 40th Battalion Signal Corps.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home chapel, Red Bay, with Dayton Martin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Annie Keeton Blacklidge, of Pleasant Site; seven children, Waymon Blacklidge and Janie Allen (Eddie), all of Pleasant Site, David Blacklidge (Patricia), of St. Joseph, Tenn., Janice Blacklidge Adams, of Tuscumbia, Randy Blacklidge (Pam), of Athens, Danny Blacklidge (Anita), of Muscle Shoals, and Pam Lewey (Horace), of the Cedar Creek community; one brother, Franklin M. Blacklidge (Frances), of Florence; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Blacklidge; mother, Millie McRight Blacklidge; and one brother, Maurice Blacklidge.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Allen, Patrick Adams, Adam Blacklidge, Jacob Blacklidge, Jon Pruitt and Stephen Bradford.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
