Kendra Darren Sawyer Haddock – Obituary

Kendra Darren Sawyer Haddock, age 45, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at UAB Hospital after an extended illness. Kendra was the well-loved art teacher at Mountain Brook Elementary School and a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.

She was a 1991 graduate of Vestavia Hills High School, obtained a Bachelors of Art and History from Samford University, and a Masters of Art Education from the University of Montevallo. She also studied abroad at Samford London Center. She established an Excellence in Learning Center, “The Leader in Me” for Mountain Brook Board of Education. She was elected Teacher of the Year in 2017.

She is survived by her loving husband, Brian Haddock, and son, Brian Wilson Haddock of Vestavia; her parents, Tom and Gale Sawyer, formerly of Cullman and Vestavia; brother Eric (Heather) and their children, Emerson and Ava Kate; and grandmother Charlotte Butler, of Cullman. Also mother-in-law, Susan Haddock, of Florence; sister-in-law, Jennifer King, of Decatur; brother-in-law, Andy Haddock, of Columbia, South Carolina; and loving nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W.W. And Ethel Sawyer, of Hayden, and Maxie Butler, of Cullman.

The family received friends at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church for visitation and funeral on Friday, June 22, 2018, followed by burial at Florence City Cemetery.
