Kelly Joe Moore, 71, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, AL. He was born in Russellville, AL to Richmond and Magdelene Moore. Kelly lived his life serving others. His career spanned sales, customer service and banking. He was known as Pops by his family as well as all the friends of his grandchildren and JoJo by all his golfing buddies at Redmont Country Club. Kelly accepted Jesus as a young boy and was a charter member of Grace Methodist Church in Red Bay. He has been an active member of the Alabama Walk to Emmaus Community since 1999 where he lived out Matthew 20:28, “to serve, not to be served”. As a lay director, Kelly’s theme verse was “With God All Things Are Possible,” Matthew 19:26, words he believed with his whole heart.
Kelly was an avid Bama fan traveling nationwide from the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu to Penn State and to the Orange Bowl in Florida. For many years, if Bama was playing – Kelly was there. He was also a strong supporter of the Red Bay Tigers, remembered by many of his ringing “Touchdown Tigers!” as he assisted Jack Ivy with football broadcasts. Kelly had a lifelong passion for rv travel and cruising. He and his wife, Sally have visited almost every state and several foreign countries exploring our beautiful world. He saw beauty in nature and loved touring the national parks.
