FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library announces an upcoming book event.
Book Talk/Signing with Kelly Garner, “The Good Samaritan of Snowmageddon”
Sunday, May 1, 2:00 pm
Florence-Lauderdale Public Library
Born and raised in Florence, Vestavia Hills resident Kelly Garner, a 1983 graduate of Bradshaw High School and a UNA alumnus, became known as “The Good Samaritan of Snowmageddon.” In his book, The Night That Changed Our Lives, he looks back at the tragic accident that almost ended his life. During the central Alabama ice storm in 2014, Garner ventured out to help those stuck on nearby Highway 31. A diabetic, he developed severe hypoglycemia and plunged 40 feet off the edge of a cliff, spending more than 12 hours in single-digit temperatures before his rescue. He spent months in the hospital and rehab, but he hopes that readers will se his experience as he does: as a gift from God–full of miracles, inspiration, and survival.
The author will sell and sign copies of his book at the event. For more information, call 256-764-6564, ext. 28.
