Kelly Carter, 83, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his residence. Kelly was known to be a devoted husband to his beloved wife until her passing in November of 2024. Kelly was also a devoted ambassador for Christ, faithfully serving throughout his life in numerous capacities. He generously gave his time as a Sunday school teacher, choir director and Deacon. After retiring from a successful career in retail merchandising, he answered the call to serve as an interim pastor. More recently, he was a dedicated Elder at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Lexington, where he continued to serve the congregation in many meaningful ways. Out of all the titles he held, Papaw was his favorite.

Visitation for Kelly will be Monday, July 7th at Rogersville Funeral Home from 11-12 with a funeral service following in the chapel. Burial will be held in the adjoining cemetery. Isaac Brown will be officiating.

Kelly was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eula Carter; parents, Hillory and Lillie Carter; brother, Larry Carter; sister, Brenda Carter. He is survived by his son, Duane (Melissa) Carter; daughter, Marissa Carter; brother, Andy Carter; 16 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
