Keith Cosby, 54, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at ECM Hospital. He was born March 15, 1959 in Iuka, Ms.. While attending high school he was an Auxillary Deputy and then became a dispatcher for the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department. He was former police officer for the City of Cherokee and Leighton and former police chief for the City of Red Bay. He had been an employee of Deaton Funeral Home since 1995. He will be missed by many including his cat, Punkin.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Mynot Cemetery. Burial will be in Mynot Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife – Betsy Cosby, Belmont, Ms.; four sisters – Karen Hunt (Dwight) Cherokee, Al., Nancy Sumerel (Earl) Huntsville, Al., his twin – Kathy Hendrix, Burnsville, Ms. and Tammie Moore (Mike) Town Creek, Al.; one brother – Bobby Cosby, Cherokee, Al. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cosby Jr. and Elsie Black Cosby and a brother-in-law, Harold Hendrix.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Hunt, Jared Hunt, Mark Cosby, Mike Moore and Earl Sumerel. Honorary pallbearers will be Elzie Malone, Jeff Wooten, Billy P. Sartain and Dwight Hunt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colbert County Humane Society.
